Periodontal Treatment

During your periodontal and cleaning appointment, our staff at Mogan Dental begins with an evaluation of your gum and teeth, in addition to any medical concerns and history. Then the treatment continues with the removal of plaque and tartar on your teeth by a hand scaler, ultrasonic scaler or laser. Morgan Dental provides deep cleaning to ensure all tartar is removed, and your teeth are polished for a brighter, cleaner smile.

Flouride Treatments

Morgan Dental offers a fluoride treatment option for young patients to help strengthen their teeth as the permanent adult teeth start to grow in. Fluoride makes the enamel harder and remineralizes the tooth enamel, therefore, protecting kids teeth against cavities and keeping them stronger for life. All procedures are completed by one of our registered dental hygienists.

What is Gingivitis?

Gingivitis effects the gums mostly reversibly and mild to moderately. It is caused by plaque build-ups and often poor oral hygiene or sometimes hormonal changes like pregnancy or stress. Some signs and symptoms of gingivitis include red, puffy gums as well as bleedings gums. Gingivitis is usually painless and does not affect the supporting bone around the teeth. Regular professional dental cleanings and proper oral hygiene care such as effective brushing and flossing will usually heal and reverse the damaging effects of gingivitis on patient’s teeth and gum.

What is Periodontitis?

Periodontitis is the other more serious type of gum disease. It damages the structures around the teeth, such as the gums and the ligaments that hold the teeth in place, and the bone around the teeth irreversibly. Periodontitis is also caused by chronic poor oral hygiene combined with lack of professional dental cleanings. Genetics and the type of bacteria within people’s oral tissues may play a role in it as well. Periodontal disease causes infectious periodontal tissues that can be swollen, bleeding and painful and leads to tooth lost. Often moderate to severe periodontitis requires surgical interventions to maintain and restore the health back into the tissues.
